Creation of the Rare Sugar Industry

Attracting and Fostering Industry and Private Sector Laboratories

It is important thatbusinesses install the facilities and equipment they will need in order to produce rare sugar and carry out experimental research. This process, aided by government programs like the investment subsidy system, will allow a strong foundation for the industry to be put in place sothat growth can occur. Then, D-allulose can grow into a major industry within the prefecture.

Support for New Product Development through Research

  • The project supports local businesses in developing new products that use D-psicose, Rare Sugar Syrup, or other ingredients.
  • Non-food items, such as non-toxic pesticides, are also being put on the fast track for development. We expect to see these other fields established soon.
  • The project supports Kagawa businesses that are commercializing successes from Kagawa University's glyco-bio research.
  • Through Kagawa's Industrial Technology Research Center, the project also provides technical support to Kagawa businesses that are investigating ways to efficiently produce rare sugars or developing new products.

A Network of Industry, Academia, and Government

To efficiently pursue the rare sugar project, a consortium of industry, academia and government with its diverse viewpoints is supporting organizations and programs that work to commercialize and promote rare sugar.

  • Rare Sugar Strategy Meeting
Supports programs for investigating policies, exchanging information, and coordinating matters related to the project, through the cooperation of industry, academia, and government.
  • Kagawa Glyco-Bio Forum(Link to an external site)
The forum publicizes rare sugar (Kagawa's Dream Sugar), creates networks of people in the "glyco-bio" field, and holds symposiums.
