Health Benefits of Rare Sugar and Medical Applications

We’re finding that when it comes to personal health, rare sugar can be very useful. Research into the special properties of D-allulose and D-allose in particular is ongoing at the Kagawa University School of Medicine.

D-allulose

D-allulose has about 70% of the sweetness of common sugar, but without the calories. When D-allulose is a part of a meal, the normal rise in blood sugar after eating has been proven to be suppressed. This means it can be effective in treating and preventing diabetes. Moreover, it has been shown to help suppress weight gain and help prevent arteriosclerosis. This is promising not just for Japan, but for the world. A great deal of attention is focused on using this to overcome diabetes and obesity everywhere.

D-allose

D-allose has about 80% of the sweetness of common sugar, but without the calories. It also works to reduce the amount of reactive oxygen. Reactive oxygen is a cause of neurodegenerative diseases, stroke, heart attack, hypertension, etc. It is expected that therapeutic applications will come from further research. Equally impressive is D-allose’s ability to suppress the division and proliferation of cancer cells. It is hoped that new medicines and new medically-beneficial foods will be developed as a result.
